We started building our new house

in June of 2006. We dug the basement with a backhoe that Jim borrowed from work and Phillip & Richard helped. They have been our main helpers throughout this whole project.

Later we poured the cement for the floor with the help of our boys and our nephews Tom and Brian. They were such a big help and Jim and I were so grateful for all of their help.

Then came the basement walls. We used the new foam block forms to make it warmer, but we had a few porblems and didn't have enough helpers to do the job. Jim & I tared the walls and made a big mess, but we got it finished and started on the next floor and on up to the roof.
We spent just about every weekend we could on the house and it slowly started comming together. The weather turned cold, but we kept at it. When the boys couldn't help, Jim and I worked on it together.

Richard helped several times with shingeling the roof and Phillip spent 2 days helping us finish the roof the week before he left for his mission. The finishing touches were done during Christmas vacation when Aaron went over to help Jim. They got the windows into the basement and insulated the stairs and got the door in at the top of the stairs.

Our main goal was to get the house enclosed by Oct so Jim could get moved in and be warm. We didn't get it done until the end of Dec. just about the time the trailer froze up because of -35 deg weather. We still have a lot of work to do, but at least Jim has a warm place to stay and we can work on it as we can.
